Entertainingly Different Superheroes!

On Tuesday 6th November 2012, Rob and Dex donned their superhero outfits and flew into Ide Primary School as part of a Talk for Writing project. 'Super Rob' and 'Super Dex' ran dynamic sessions promoting positive communication and storytelling, and highlighted to the pupils that anyone can be a storymaker.
Everyone got into the spirit of the theme and the hall was full of a great number of superheroes!
Hallowe'en Antics in South Devon
On 31st October 2012, Rob, Dex and Hanky got into the Hallowe'en mood for a party at The Abbey Inn in Buckfastleigh. Children were treated to songs, traditional tales and lots of fun! The hotel really went the extra mile with sound effects and superb decorations.
Carnival Fever Hits Oke!
The Okehampton Carnival Committee engaged Rob and Dex as part of the Carnival celebrations in Okehampton. On Saturday 13th October 2012, a week before the Carnival, the Charter Hall in Okehampton was filled with the sound of laughter as audience members young and old were delighted in an Entertainingly Different style. The show was designed to get people into the Carnival spirit ahead of the main event.
The Carnival took place on the evening of Saturday 20th October and the town was lit up with the bright lights from all the vibrant floats. Rob and Dex followed the procession in their own style and then set up outside Wongs Chinese Takeaway for a few songs to keep the Carnival goers entertained until the procession came back round again. As the floats passed by Rob and Dex interacted with people and created a really good atmosphere.

Bedtime Stories at Bridport Primary School
Following a positive communication INSET session for staff at Bridport Primary School, pupils were invited back into school on the evening of 18th October 2012 for stories and cocoa. Everyone was dressed ready for bed in their pyjamas and the event was a huge success.
"A HUGE thank you to Rob and Dexter for a fantastic evening of story-telling. The children from years 1 to 6 were all so engaged by your stories and style. The interactive quality of the storytelling meant that every single child experienced a truly memorable and exciting night! We are all immensely looking forward to seeing you both again soon..." Live Music Adds a New Twist
We are absolutely delighted to welcome local folk artist Jim Causley to Entertainingly Different.
Jim has come aboard to provide an extra twist to our Traditional Tales and Christmas shows by adding some quality live music with his accordian.
Who knows....he might even tell a few stories himself....
Check out 'About Jim' for more information.
Beautiful Days Festival 2012
It was with great pleasure and huge privilege that we attended the 10th Beautiful Days Festival at Escot, Devon. What made it all the more exciting was it was the first year that there was a dedicated Theatre Tent, a 300 seat venue, and on top of that, we were the first act to 'christen' the tent!
We arrived for a briefing on the evening of Thursday 16th August 2012, before
performing as the first live act of the weekend on the Friday morning with our popular and crazy 'Rise and Shine' session, as well as on the Saturdy and Sunday morning too. It was with great delight we invited the children down onto the stage to join in with the various songs and games to get the day kick started in the best possible way.
On the Saturday, we performed our Traditional Tales to a full audience which seemed to go down very well indeed! See the Gallery for more photos.
It may have started of as a bit of a damp weekend, but people were in good spirits and by Sunday things were drying out nicely! Not only did we thoroughly enjoy our performances over the weekend, we were also treated to plenty of fantastic theatre and some awesome live music. Thank you Beautiful Days! We will be back...
Jubilee Celebrations
Rob was delighted to be asked to host the Jubilee celebrations at Bow on Monday 4th June 2012.
The Launch of The Green Ship at RHS Rosemoor
On Saturday 26th May 2012, Rob was transformed into Quentin Blake's very own Mr Magnolia at RHS Rosemoor, Great Torrington. It signalled the start of the Quentin Blake Exhibition which runs until 27th August. More significantly, Mr Magnolia had the very great honour of launching The Green Ship which has been constucted in the glorious grounds of Rosemoor in homage to Quentin Blake's book, The Green Ship.
Armed with pink fizz, Mr Magnolia (with only one boot!) took to the ship and with great gusto, named and opened the ship to the general public. Everyone there enjoyed an afternoon of entertainment with Mr Magnolia and enjoyed the free lime cordial and cake on offer.

Later on in the evening of the 26th May, Rob headed across to Crediton for the Cub Camp for some camp fire fun!
Exeter Northcott Family Open Day
On Saturday 5th May 2012, the Exeter Northcott opened their doors to give the general public a look behind the scenes including stage make-up demos, stage pyrotechnics, shadow puppet shows, technical demonstrations and so much more!
Rob was on hand to lead some family acting workshops which were very well received and attended by a fantastic number of participants.

Exeter Performer's Playground Workshop
On Wednesday 21st March 2012, Rob led a workshop based on 'Storytelling - A fundamental instrument of communication'. During this 3 hour session Rob tapped into his inexhaustible pot of ideas to share some tried and tested activities and specially developed exercises. Fun and laughter was the order of the day as participants released the storyteller within.
